Getting started

How do I report a traffic violation?

Open the Civesto app, tap the camera icon at the bottom of the home screen, then take a photograph or a short video (up to 10 seconds) of the alleged violation. Confirm the location detected by your device — you can adjust it manually if needed — and select the violation category from the list (e.g. parking on a cycle lane, mobile phone while driving). Tap Submit.

Your report is encrypted in transit, signed for tamper-evidence, and forwarded to the public authority responsible for the location. You will receive a confirmation in the app within a few seconds.

What kind of evidence should I submit?

Good evidence is clear, contextual and contemporaneous. Where possible, your photo or video should show:

  • the vehicle and its registration plate;
  • the surrounding context (sign, road marking, junction) that establishes the offence;
  • a discreet capture of any pedestrian or third party (faces are blurred automatically server-side).

Do not put yourself in danger and never report while you are driving.

Is the app free?

Yes. The core reporting functionality — submitting reports to public authorities — is and will remain free of charge. Optional premium features (e.g. unlimited high-resolution video uploads, advanced personal statistics, ad-free professional dashboard) may be offered on a subscription basis in the future. Any price is shown clearly at the point of purchase and is subject to your express confirmation.

Reports & evidence

What happens after I submit a report?

The report is geo-routed to the territorially competent public authority. That authority decides, on the basis of its own assessment and the applicable national law, whether to open a procedure, request additional evidence, or close the file.

Civesto is a neutral intermediary: we do not investigate, we do not adjudicate, and we do not impose sanctions.

Why don't you show fine amounts?

The amount of any sanction is determined exclusively by the competent public authority on the basis of the applicable national law (for example the German Bußgeldkatalog, the UK Highway Code or the French Code de la route). It depends on aggravating and mitigating factors that only the authority can evaluate.

Showing an indicative figure could mislead Users into believing that the platform takes the enforcement decision, which is not the case. We deliberately omit any figure to keep the boundary between citizen reporting and public enforcement clear.

Will the violator know I reported them?

No. Your identity is never disclosed to the registered keeper of the vehicle, nor to any other private party. The receiving authority sees only the data that are strictly necessary to assess the case (location, time, photo, plate, category).

If a court of competent jurisdiction issues a binding order to disclose your identity in the context of a specific procedure, we are required by law to comply, but we will notify you wherever we are not legally prohibited from doing so.

How do you prevent false reports?

We combine several layers of defence:

  • Automated checks on metadata: image hash deduplication, EXIF integrity, GPS plausibility, AI-generated-image detection.
  • Account-level signals: rate limits per device and per account, reputation score that decreases on each rejected report.
  • Authority feedback: when an authority closes a report as abusive, the corresponding signal feeds back into the reporter's score.
  • Criminal liability: knowingly submitting a false report to a public authority is an offence in most Member States. We cooperate with judicial authorities where required.
What if my report is rejected?

Reports may be closed without action for various reasons: insufficient evidence, the offence falls outside the scope of the receiving authority's competence, prescription, or simple administrative discretion. A closure is not a finding that you acted in bad faith.

If you believe a report was rejected unfairly, you may contact the receiving authority directly (their reference is shown in the app) or consult our internal complaint-handling procedure under Article 20 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 by writing to [email protected].

Account & data

Can I delete my account?

Yes, at any time. Open Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, or write to [email protected]. Your account and personal data are erased within 30 days. A small subset of evidentiary metadata (location, timestamp, hash) is retained for the period prescribed by national procedural law, as detailed in the Privacy Policy.

How is my data protected?

All data are encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256. Passwords are hashed with Argon2id. Production data are stored in the European Union (Hostinger International Ltd, Vilnius, Lithuania). Access is restricted to the provider.

Read the full set of safeguards in Section 12 of the Privacy Policy.

How do I download my data?

Under Article 20 GDPR you have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format. Open Settings → Privacy → Export my data; we will email you a JSON archive within 30 days. The export contains your account data, your reports (without third-party personal data) and all consent records.

Coverage & languages

Which countries do you operate in?

Civesto is in pre-launch. The application is not yet available in any app store, and no integration agreement with a public authority is currently in place. We are seeking our first authority pilot.

If you would like to see Civesto available in your country, write to [email protected].

Which languages does the app support?

The user interface is fully translated into Turkish, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian and Arabic. Further languages are partially translated. Free-text descriptions can be submitted in any language; the receiving authority sees the original text together with an optional automated translation.

Billing

How can I get an invoice?

Where you have purchased a premium feature, an invoice is generated automatically and sent to the email address associated with your account within 24 hours of purchase. You can re-download all your invoices from Settings → Billing → History.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Open Settings → Billing → Manage subscription in the app, or cancel directly through your Apple App Store or Google Play account. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access to the premium features until then.
